Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs
- Participate in architecture and design discussions; write and review technical design documents
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code with comprehensive unit and integration test coverage
- Optimize database schemas and queries; ensure performance and reliability under load
- Build event-driven and asynchronous workflows using message brokers
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve production systems; take part in incident response and post-mortems
- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and engineering best practices
- Perform code reviews and mentor Middle and Junior engineers
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Frontend, QA, and DevOps to deliver features end to end
- Maintain clear API and technical documentation
About the Team
You will join a product engineering team of backend, frontend, QA, and DevOps engineers working closely with Product and Design. The team owns its services end to end: from design and implementation to deployment, monitoring, and on-call support.
Typical Tech Stack
- Language: Go
- Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis
- Messaging: Kafka, RabbitMQ, or NATS
- APIs: REST, gRPC, OpenAPI (Swagger)
- Authentication & Authorization: OAuth 2.0 / OIDC
- Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD (GitLab CI or similar)
- Observability: Metrics, centralized logging, distributed tracing, alerting
Nice to Have
Required:
- 5+ years of commercial backend development experience
- Strong proficiency in Go: idiomatic code, concurrency patterns, performance profiling
- Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL or MySQL): schema design, indexing, query optimization, migrations
- Experience with Redis or similar caching solutions
- Experience designing and implementing REST APIs (gRPC is a plus) and documenting them with OpenAPI/Swagger
- Understanding of microservices architecture and distributed systems trade-offs (consistency, availability, failure modes)
- Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS, or similar) and event-driven design
- Experience with Docker and a good understanding of Kubernetes basics
- Proficiency with Git and CI/CD practices
- Solid experience with automated testing (unit, integration)
- Understanding of application security fundamentals (OWASP Top 10, secure handling of secrets and user data, authentication and authorization basics)
- Good written and spoken English
Preferred:
- Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/Graylog, OpenTelemetry)
- Experience with high-load systems and performance profiling
- Experience with cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure) and infrastructure-as-code
- Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB or similar)
- Experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring engineers
- Experience in gaming, e-commerce, fintech, or payments domains
- Practical, up-to-date experience with modern AI tools (e.g. Claude, Copilot, Cursor) for code generation, review, and accelerating day-to-day engineering work.
