Engineering Lead

Accountabilities

• Own the technical design, architecture, and execution of major products, systems, and engineering initiatives from conception through production.
• Design and develop scalable, reliable systems across backend and frontend applications, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• Remain hands-on through coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging, performance optimization, and production issue resolution.
• Drive architecture decisions and clearly evaluate trade-offs involving scalability, reliability, cost, maintainability, security, and development speed.
• Translate ambiguous product and business requirements into well-defined technical solutions, implementation approaches, and execution plans.
• Lead technically critical initiatives and coordinate engineering efforts across teams when broader technical alignment is required.
• Raise engineering standards through stronger system design, automated testing, security practices, observability, and development processes.
• Identify and resolve complex technical and production challenges while maintaining a strong focus on reliability and customer impact.
• Mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, and help develop engineering capabilities across teams.
• Contribute to the evolution of engineering practices, systems, and organizational capabilities as the business and technology landscape grows.
• Collaborate effectively with distributed colleagues across multiple products, countries, teams, and time zones.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building and delivering production systems.
• Deep technical expertise in one or more areas such as backend engineering, frontend development, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong system design and software architecture capabilities, particularly for complex, scalable, or high-availability systems.
• Excellent coding skills and a genuine willingness to remain actively involved in implementation and technical problem-solving.
• Demonstrated experience technically leading significant engineering projects from initial design through production deployment and ongoing operation.
• Strong judgment when making technical trade-offs, with the ability to balance business needs, engineering quality, delivery speed, scalability, reliability, and cost.
• Ability to influence engineers and cross-functional stakeholders through clear communication, technical credibility, and practical decision-making.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to investigate and resolve complex production issues.
• Experience operating in a fast-moving environment where requirements, priorities, and technical challenges can evolve quickly.
• Experience scaling engineering teams, systems, or development practices through periods of significant growth is a plus.
• Experience working across multiple products, markets, or countries is advantageous.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across a globally distributed team.
