Position Summary

As a DataOps Engineer, you will architect the 'Golden Path' for our data infrastructure, transforming how we manage the data powering Panopto for 10+ million users by replacing manual database management with automated, code-driven pipelines that enable seamless growth and rapid innovation.

How You’ll Contribute

• Engineer the Data Lifecycle: Design and implement the "Golden Path" for data, ensuring seamless transitions between operational SQL environments, analytics warehouses, and AI-ready data sets.
• Implement Data as Code: Treat our AWS-hosted MS SQL infrastructure as a version-controlled, automated ecosystem using CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Architect Multi-Layer Reliability: Build frameworks that guarantee data quality and availability across all tiers.
• Optimize for Scalability & Performance: Identify and resolve architectural bottlenecks in our SQL Server environment.
• Standardize Data Observability: Develop advanced monitoring and alerting strategies for data health.
• Bridge the Engineering Gap: Collaborate with Software Engineers and Data Scientists to ensure data architecture supports product iteration and research initiatives.

The Foundation for Success

• Experience: 5+ years in DevOps or Database Administration.
• AWS & SQL Mastery: Expertise in managing MS SQL Server on AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, CloudWatch).
• Automation Fluency: Proficient in Python, Bash, or PowerShell; working knowledge of C#.
• Outcome-Oriented: Focus on results that improve the quality of life for the engineering team.

What Success Looks Like

• Within 6 Months: Complete an audit of data deployment processes and identify bottlenecks.
• Within 1 Year: Implement automated CI/CD for database schema changes.
• Your Legacy: Own the "Data as Code" strategy, ensuring agility and resilience in the data layer.

Total Rewards

The salary range for this position is $140,000 - $150,000 USD per year. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of the compensation package. The Total Rewards package includes competitive base pay and an opportunity to enroll in various benefit programs such as health insurance, retirement savings plans, and more.
